Varsity Dragons secure first league win!

Wednesday the 7th of March was the date for season 2012’s first league contest against the Cedar Ridge Raiders.

The Dragons hungry for a win quickly took control and led 5-0 at the end of the first quarter.  However, the Raiders started to bounce back and won the second quarter.  It was 6-2 at half.  The Dragons shut out the Raiders in the 3rd but Cedar Ridge valiantly added 4 goals in the 4th quarter.  In the end though it was victory for Round Rock!   12-6!

Nine different Dragons contributed to the scoring!   This included Christian McIntosh (4 points), Dylan Monteith (3 points), Luke DeMello (3 points), Walker Houghton (3 points), Tanner Parr (2 points), Matt Krozel (2 points), Conner Houghton (1 point), Jack Tyler (1 point), and Isaiah Ahn (1 point). 

Spring break is upon the Dragons but they will have to stay in top form as they face Georgetown in another league contest on Wednesday March 21st at Eastside HS in Georgetown at 6PM.  Will the Dragons be up and ready for the challenge of the Georgetown Eagles?    Come and support the Dragons to find out!

4 Game Sweep in Houston for Round Rock Dragon Lacrosse!

Round Rock brought its Varsity and JV Maroon squads to Houston for back-to-back double headers the weekend of March 3rd and 4th.    The weekend began with a major upset as the Varsity Dragons edged the Westside Wolves 8-7 in a windy afternoon contest.   Westside (4-2) was ranked 6th by laxpower.com while the Dragons (1-1) were ranked 28th.   After the weekend wins the Dragons moved to 13th in the laxpower.com computer generated rankings.

The Dragon win was truly a team effort.  Scoring was led by midfielder Christian McIntosh with 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 total points.  2 points each came from midfielder Dylan Monteith (2 goals), midfielder Walker Houghton (1 goal, 1 assist), and Conner Houghton (2 assists).   Attackmen Tanner Parr and Isaiah Ahn each added a goal and Luke DeMello an assist.

Defense was led by goalie Daniel Donovan with an impressive 11 saves.   LSM and close defenseman Captain Josh Beck assisted in the effort along with fellow Captain and defenseman Kyle James.    Defenseman Ryan Soliz fell victim to an early injury but backups TJ Wojtowecz and Stephen Tynan did admiral defensive backup work!

Maroon came in on the Varsity win and walked away with a victory that was also an 8-7 score!   The effort was led by attackman Austin Sarabia who had 4 points, 3 goals and an assist.  Adam Aguirre brought in another 3 goals at attack.  The remainder were tallied by midfielder Jeremy Johnson (1 goal, 1 assist), midfielder Caleb Hollifield (1 goal), and an assist from attackman Dusty Faires rounded out the scoring.

Defense was led by goalie Kyle Morgan and his close defensemen of Zach Hill, Chandler Martin, Jonathan Adams, and Stephen Mamola.

Sunday brought more victory at Langham Creek High School.  In the Varsity game, the Dragons quickly controlled the game and never looked back.  At the end of 48 minutes of play it was Dragons 12, Lobos 6.
Scoring was as follows:  Luke DeMello (3 goals), Dylan Monteith (2 goals, 1 assist), Christian McIntosh (2 goals, 1 assist), Isaiah Ahn (2 goals, 1 assist), Conner Houghton (1 goal, 3 assists), Walker Houghton (1 goal, 1 assist), Tanner Parr (1 goal) and Jack Tyler (1 assist).

Additional effort from Matt Krozel, Jacob Dalton, Caleb Hollifield, Michael Fotovich, and the defensive players helped secure the Dragon victory.

Sunday’s Maroon effort resulted in a 3-2 victory for the Dragons.   Attackman Adam Aguirre, Tanner Haas, Austin Sarabia each had one goal.  Aguirre and Dusty Faires each added an assist.   Kyle Morgan had an impressive 10 saves in the Dragon win over the Langham Creek Lobos.

The Dragons returned to Round Rock from an exciting weekend of lacrosse with 4 victories and a lot of sunburned skin!

End of Season Award Banquet set for May 10th!

The second annual end of season Award Banquet will be held in the new HS cafeteria in building 1100.   The festivities will begin at 6PM with dinner and an exciting evening of acknowledging the great season of lacrosse the Dragons provided.

Many awards will be handed out.   Some of the top coveted awards include MVP awards, Captain Awards, Most improved, and of course, Varsity Letters!

We will also get to see the first viewing of the season highlight DVD which will be available for sale to our membership.

All Dragon players, their families and friends, our coaches and teacher sponsors, as well as our corporate sponsors and friends are invited to attend.
